Claude Code Remote Control Leaves Research Preview, Sessions Start From Your Phone

Remote Control Goes GA and Gains a Phone Entry Point

Claude Code's Remote Control has left research preview. Alongside the graduation, the Claude mobile app gained a Devices section: any machine running claude remote-control shows up as a device card at the top of the Code tab.

Starting a session from your phone

Previously, Remote Control let you continue a session that was already running on your machine. Now the flow starts from the phone. Run Remote Control on the machine you want to reach:

claude remote-control

The machine appears as a device card above the sessions list in the Code tab. Tap it, pick a directory, and a session starts there. You no longer have to be at the desk to open the session in the first place.

Settings follow the client

Effort-level picks made on a phone or on claude.ai/code now apply to sessions hosted in the terminal, in Claude Code Desktop, and in VS Code, and the session publishes its current effort level back to connected clients. Remote Control sessions hosted by Desktop or VS Code also show connected devices the session's current permission mode.

Why it matters

GA status matters less than the new entry point. A remote-control feature that can only resume what you already started is a monitoring tool; one that can start work on your workstation from a phone is a genuine second way to use Claude Code. Combined with the settings that now follow you between clients, the phone stops being a read-only window on a session and becomes a place you can actually direct work from.
