Figma: AI Credits Enforcement and New Purchase Options

Figma

Figma announced that AI credit limits for Full seat users will be enforced starting March 18, 2026 β€” a significant shift from the previously unenforced state for this tier. Alongside the enforcement announcement, Figma is introducing new ways to purchase additional credits: an AI credits subscription (shared pool for teams, available from March 11) and a pay-as-you-go billing option (rolling out to all paid plans in Q2 2026). Every seat on every plan continues to include a baseline monthly credit allocation, but users who exceed their limit will now need to purchase additional credits or wait for their monthly reset.

AI Credit Limits Enforcement for Full Seat Users

Starting March 18, 2026, Figma will enforce AI credit limits for Full seat users β€” a significant change from the previously unenforced state for this tier. Until now, Full seat users could exceed their monthly credit allocations without consequence. Going forward, once credits are exhausted, AI features will be unavailable until the monthly reset, unless additional credits are purchased.

Credit Allocations by Plan

Every seat on every Figma plan includes a baseline monthly credit allocation:

Plan Seat Type Monthly Credits
Starter All seats 500/mo (150 daily cap)
Professional Full seat 3,000/mo
Organization Full seat 3,500/mo
Enterprise Full seat 4,250/mo
All plans Dev Mode / Collaborator / Viewer 500/mo

Credits reset at the beginning of each billing cycle.

Credit Costs by Feature

Not all AI features consume credits equally:

  • AI search and rename: Free (no credit cost)
  • Image editing features: 1–25 credits per action
  • Figma Make (generative design): 30–100+ credits depending on complexity

Per-action credit costs are visible on hover before confirming an action, giving users transparency into their spending.

New Purchase Options

AI Credits Subscription (Available March 11, 2026)

Organization and Enterprise admins can purchase an AI credits subscription that creates a shared credit pool for their team. Multiple subscription tiers are available, allowing teams to scale their AI usage based on need. Credits from the subscription are shared across all eligible users in the organization.

Pay-As-You-Go (Rolling out Q2 2026)

A pay-as-you-go billing option at $0.03 per credit will roll out to all paid plans in Q2 2026. Admins can set spending caps to control costs. This option provides flexibility for teams with variable AI usage patterns.

What Happens When Credits Run Out

When a user exhausts their monthly credit allocation:

  • All AI-powered features become unavailable
  • Users must wait for their monthly credit reset, or
  • The organization can purchase additional credits via subscription or pay-as-you-go

Visibility and Transparency

Figma is adding tools to help users and admins understand credit consumption:

  • Per-action cost hover: Before confirming any AI action, users can see exactly how many credits it will consume
  • Usage dashboards: Admins get visibility into credit consumption across their organization, helping with planning and budgeting
