Figma: AI Hosting Controls for Governance+

Figma added AI hosting controls for organizations on the Governance+ add-on, giving Enterprise admins the ability to route all AI feature traffic through Figma's own AWS environment. When enabled, AI requests made by any Figma AI feature are processed through Amazon Web Services infrastructure — including Amazon Bedrock — keeping AI activity within a controlled, auditable environment separate from third-party model providers. The control is toggled from the Figma Admin settings panel under AI features.

AI Traffic Routing for Enterprise Compliance

Figma's Governance+ tier received a new compliance capability: AI hosting controls that let administrators restrict where AI requests are processed, independent of where design file data is stored.

What the Feature Does

When AI hosting controls are enabled, all AI traffic generated by Figma features — including generative tools, AI-assisted editing, and any other model-powered workflows — is routed exclusively through an AWS account owned by Figma. Processing occurs on AWS infrastructure, including through Amazon Bedrock, rather than through third-party model providers operating outside of Figma's managed environment.

The setting is accessible to Governance+ organization admins via Admin > Settings > AI > AI features, where a single toggle enables the restriction across the entire organization.

Why It Matters for Enterprise

For organizations in regulated industries — financial services, healthcare, government contractors, and others — controlling where AI requests are routed is often a hard compliance requirement. The ability to confine AI activity to a known, auditable cloud environment (AWS), with Governance+'s existing logging and data management capabilities, gives compliance and security teams a complete picture of how Figma AI features interact with company data.

Distinct from Local Data Hosting

This feature is separate from Figma's regional file data hosting (available for EU, Australia, and India). Local data hosting governs where Figma design file data is stored at rest. AI hosting controls specifically target the routing of AI model inference requests — ensuring that the content passed to AI models during interactions also stays within Figma's controlled infrastructure, not just the underlying files.

Availability

AI hosting controls are available exclusively to Enterprise customers with the Governance+ add-on. When the setting is on, it applies to all AI features organization-wide.
