Figma: User Groups

Figma

Figma launched User Groups for Organization and Enterprise plan customers, enabling teams to organize members by department, team, or role and share files, projects, and resources with an entire group at once. When a new member joins a group, they automatically inherit the group's existing access permissions; when they leave, access is revoked. Groups can be mentioned in comments using @Group name, and Enterprise customers with SCIM provisioning can sync groups directly from Okta or Microsoft Entra ID.

Figma Launches User Groups for Organization and Enterprise Plans

Figma released User Groups, a collaboration feature that lets organizations manage access and communication at scale by grouping members into named collections. The feature is available on Organization and Enterprise plans, and any organization member can create and manage groups unless an admin has restricted creation to admins only.

Organizing Teams at Scale

Groups can represent a department (Design, Engineering, Marketing), a specific project team, or any other logical unit. Once created, a group can be used in the standard sharing dialog: when a file, project, or Figma team resource is shared with a group, every current member receives the specified access level — edit or view.

Dynamic Access That Stays Current

When someone joins a group, they automatically gain access to all resources the group has been shared on. When someone leaves, their access is revoked accordingly. As teams evolve over time — new hires joining, contractors rotating off — sharing stays accurate without any manual cleanup.

Mentions and Notifications in Comments and FigJam

User Groups integrate with Figma's comment system. Members can type @Group name in a file comment or FigJam board to notify all members of the group at once.

Enterprise Controls and SCIM Integration

Enterprise plan administrators have additional controls, including the ability to restrict group creation to admins only. Enterprise teams using SCIM provisioning can sync groups directly from identity providers such as Okta and Microsoft Entra ID.
