Skills in Chrome β€” Reusable AI Prompts as One-Click Tools

Google has launched Skills in Chrome, a new feature that turns AI prompts into reusable, one-click workflows inside Gemini in Chrome. Users can discover, save, remix, and instantly repeat AI interactions β€” effectively creating personal macros for browser-based AI tasks.

How Skills Work

Skills are triggered by typing "/" or clicking "+" in Gemini in Chrome. Users can save any helpful AI interaction from their chat history as a Skill, then re-run it on any page or across multiple open tabs simultaneously.

Built-In Library & Custom Skills

Google ships a pre-built Skills library covering common tasks like ingredient breakdowns for recipes, product spec comparisons, and document summarization. Users can also create entirely custom Skills or remix existing ones.

Cross-Tab Execution

A key differentiator is the ability to run a saved Skill across multiple pages at once β€” for example, comparing prices or extracting data from several tabs in parallel.

Privacy & Security

Skills inherit Chrome's existing privacy safeguards: confirmation prompts before calendar or email actions, automated red-teaming, and auto-update protections.

Availability

Rolled out on Mac, Windows, and ChromeOS for English-US users.
