Add Images to Agent Sessions
GitHub has added image input support to Copilot agent sessions on github.com, enabling developers to start or inform an agent session by providing a screenshot, diagram, or other visual reference alongside their prompt.
Start Agent Sessions with Images
GitHub has extended its agent session capabilities on github.com to support image input, allowing developers to provide visual context — such as UI screenshots, error dialogs, or architecture diagrams — when starting or steering an agent session.
How to Use It
Images can be attached through three methods:
- Paste an image directly into the agent prompt area
- Drag and drop an image onto the interface
- Click the image icon in the prompt toolbar to upload from a file
The feature is available wherever developers work with agents on github.com, including the Agents tab within repositories.
Why It Matters
Visual context can significantly narrow the scope of an agent task. A screenshot of a UI bug, a reference design, or a diagram communicates intent that can be difficult to describe in plain text alone.
