GitHub Mobile: Research and Code with Copilot Cloud Agent Anywhere
GitHub has expanded the Copilot cloud agent on GitHub Mobile beyond pull request workflows, enabling developers to research codebases, generate implementation plans, and make code changes on a branch without immediately opening a pull request β all from their mobile device. Users can now review the diff, iterate at their own pace, and create a pull request manually when ready, or instruct Copilot to open one automatically upon session completion. The update is available via the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
Copilot Cloud Agent Comes Fully to GitHub Mobile
GitHub has significantly expanded what developers can accomplish with the Copilot cloud agent on GitHub Mobile. Previously, the mobile experience focused primarily on pull request workflows β but with this update, the Copilot cloud agent on mobile now supports the full research-plan-code lifecycle, letting developers stay productive away from their desks.
Research Before Writing Code
Developers can now prompt the Copilot cloud agent to research a codebase and produce an implementation plan before any code is written. This planning step β already available in desktop and web contexts β is now accessible from a mobile device, making it possible to scope out a task, understand dependencies, and outline an approach without needing to be at a computer.
Branch-Based Development Without Forcing a PR
One of the most meaningful changes in this update is the ability to make code changes on a branch without immediately opening a pull request. Developers can work iteratively on a branch, review the diff in-app, and decide when they are ready to submit.
Flexible Pull Request Creation
When a developer is ready to open a pull request, the workflow is flexible: create one manually after reviewing the changes, or include "open a pull request" directly in the prompt β in which case Copilot will automatically create the PR when the session completes.
Availability
The updated Copilot cloud agent experience is available immediately via the latest versions of GitHub Mobile on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
